Nokia n93 Video Quality

July 18th, 2007 by badswan

Ok cool,

Nokia n93

if you’re a video-maker the Nokia n93 or the n93i are the ultimate products to be always there, with a camera, when something is happening.

But how many times you asked yourself….DVD quality…. it means a lot of different things….
And yes you’re right. dvd quality is not really a measure unit.

By the way, now you’re lucky, ’cause you find me!

The real quality of the Nokia N93 is:

Video compressor: mp4
Frame size: 640×480
Audio: stereo
Frame rate: 29.97 fps
data rate: 322.6 K/sec
Pixel aspect: 4:3

We can say that is NTSC

And can be very easily scaled with a small interpolation, to PAL, of course dropping 4 frames, in order to become 25 (from 29)

During my several video test on Final Cut…. i can say that… The quality is ok. Even projected on a TV. But to edit, is not easy, Mp4 is full of group of frames, and make a serious edit needs first a conversion to a DV quality.

Btw, if you want to do a simple movie, create in Final Cut a new profile, a entering the settings use exactly the ones reported as details of a imported video.

Don’t use a Pal or Ntsc set Up.
